the story behind b2...

Kirsty says: "I set up b2 boutique in Autumn 2009. Prior to opening b2 and before the birth of my first daughter, Hope, I was a well respected Travel Consultant for a leading credit card concierge firm. I was also studying part time for an accredited degree in Psychology, which I completed late 2008 - just in the nick of time before my daughter arrived!

There were so many reasons behind me setting up b2. First and foremost, I decided I wanted a less stressful job that would allow me to spend more time at home with my daughter. My focus then settled on selling baby carriers. Why? Well, my final module of my degree was child development, and I was particularly fascinated by material covering attachment and mother-infant dyadic relationships. Any product that promotes and encourages a healthy relationship between parents and their little ones must be a good thing, and I believe that carriers are great at helping parents get to know and understand their kids from very early on.

I’ve tried loads of carriers myself. A couple of days after my daughter was born, some good friends of mine bought me a high-street branded baby carrier. Although great for a month or so (and helping Hope through some severe bouts of colic), it  became more cumbersome the more she grew. At about this time, my local breastfeeding support group, MILK!, lent me a Kari Me wrap. Soon enough I was a wrap convert. From that point onwards, I became fascinated by the concept of babywearing and obsessed by all things sling!"
